KENPO DAY! (Day 13)

Run: I did not run today, but yesterday I ran 3.19 mi on 8/29/2009 at 10:05 AM with a pace of 18′48″/mi http://bit.ly/11Nf8z

Can I just say I LOVE KENPO X!?! Tonight I am PUMPED! I brought it like I’ve never before. I feel great. (Although I know tomorrow morning I will NOT). Anyhow, this morning I woke up and Loren invited me to breakfast with her mom and Will. We went to Waffle House and I had a ham and cheese omelet. Nom nom nom. Then I came home to a wonderful storm. I contemplated taking a nap, but ended up playing the Sims 3.

That was wonderful. Much better than reading for classes (which I should have been doing). I’ll read after this post. Then at 8 I realized what day it was and got super excited. I mostly love Kenpo X because even though I don’t look super hot doing all the moves, I can complete the workout. This week I pushed myself to the limits, not taking a single break and working through all the “water breaks” including the X jumps. I was drenched 10 minutes in (that’s just the warm up). I could tell I’ve improved because my side and back kicks have much better form. I know I pushed myself because during the cool down while doing the forward bends and hamstring stretches, I leaned forward and sweat just poured from the top of my head. It was GLORIOUS. So now I’m sitting in front of my fan and it’s very nice and chilly. Tomorrow I get back to running, but its my Rest or X-Stretch. Last Monday I rested so tomorrow I’m going to try the XStretch. I’ve never done it before, should be interesting. Kdoke, I’ll conclude with my photos, yesterdays included, and then I need to read for school tomorrow.

Day 11

Run: No run today.

Ugh. Today was just disgusting. I woke up to thunder and lightening and torrential downpour. So I did not get out of bed and go to the gym. Tomorrow I will go an hour. I promise. Hopefully the gym won’t be busy because it’s a Saturday. One can hope.

Today I got a LOT done wedding planning wise. Loren and I went to David’s Bridal and picked out my bridesmaids dresses and shoes. I’m excited, very pretty. Then we went to Olive Garden where I ate way to much and now look 9mo pregnant. If only I were so I’d have an excuse.

Tonight was p90x yoga. I was hoping o get further than I had last week, however no, I sucked. I thought maybe I could try doing it in front of my tall mirror so I could make sure what I was doing mimicked what Tony Horton was doing. Epic fail, let me tell you. When I sucked my stomach in I looked halfway decent, but all the effort it took sucking in my stomach made me tired. So lesson learned: I’ll worry about my poses when I weigh 150lbs. :P Next week I will do better I promise. I only got 30 minutes into it as well. That stuff’s hard! Even as I sit here typing this my mirror is taunting me. But I cannot get discouraged. So I suck at yoga, last night I killed some Shoulders and Arms. And Ab Ripper. So once I get in better shape maybe I’ll be halfway decent at yoga.

All in all crappy night. Tomorrow will be better. Also, sorry for the eyes that will be burnt out upon viewing my flickr. I want to see change in my stomach, so I have my midriff showing in tonight’s pictures, I will probably not have this every night, but I’d like some before pictures of that as well. I told you, I’m putting myself on the line here. I need to be thinner, I need to be healthier. Tonight I went to mom’s house to show Loren my dress, and then I remembered- I need to fit into that dress. Not only that- I need to LOOK GOOD in the dress. P90X Day 10

This morning it was still storming a bit so I slept in until 8. I went to work until around 12:30pm and then headed to the gym to run. Did the treadmill at 3.1mph. Felt good, but I think I has more sweaty from walking home in downtown Atlanta with super high humidity and 85 degree temperatures.

In wedding planning news, I think Rial has found an AWESOME potential honeymoon for us. The place is Cinnamon Bay on St. John USVI. I want to go so badly, I hope things will work out.

Tonight I did Shoulders & Arms and Ab Ripper X. Until today I didn’t realize that there’s an Ab Ripper X actually following S&A. Didn’t know that. Felt dumb. I did every rep of every set. I feel so awesome. PLUS I even did 3 sets of the bonus round. That took a lot out of me.

Ab Ripper X was intense today. My lower back muscles are pulsing in pain right now. I did all of the in&outs and 10 of the frogs. I did modifications for many of the other ones. My goal is to perfect one set at a time and modify the rest; then keep adding full sets.

Anyhow. That was my day. Tomorrow after class I’m taking Loren (my maid of honor) to try on bridesmaids dresses and get dinner.

Here are the photos from today. I’m actually starting to see a tiny bit of progress on my back side. I hope this will continue. I’d like to see my arms shrink a bit and my tummy. Any how. Thanks for the support!

Day 9

So yeah. Oy. This morning I woke up just not feeling it, and I remained “not feeling it” all day. But, I forced myself to get out of bed and get to the gym. I was slightly motivated by the fact that I can once again track my runs and track my progress. It gets annoying though, because on an elliptical machine there isn’t much shock, so my earbuds are fine, but I could really use some actual running earbuds, you know, the kind that wrap around the ears? Any how, maybe I’ll invest in some of those in the upcoming weeks.

But I made it to the gym and ran on the treadmill for 30 minutes. I’ve decided this will be my set time, but I’d like to try and get my distance to increase. That won’t be difficult seeing as though I’m starting from walking! So I’m going to increase my speed from 3.0mph up a 0.1mph everyday until I reach my goal.

This morning I did not go to work. Instead, it occurred to me that I had not one three-page paper, but two three-page papers due today. So I stayed home and worked on those. Then I went to class and came home around 7:00pm where I felt like poop.

Some of you know that in February I had to have my gallbladder removed right before I was to go on my first backpacking trip with my fiance. (See Rial Sloan’s post)This put my 5k training at a standstill until just recently, due to the fact that my abdomen had holes in it and I didn’t want to risk tearing them. Now they have healed and I can do normal activities and even P90X! However, today my stomach started hurting in the area it did before my surgery. I’m fairly certain it’s just phantom pains (seeing as though I no longer have that organ), but I still worry.

Let me confess, tonight I had no intentions of completing p90x. Let me revise that statement: tonight I had no intentions of beginning p90x. As 8 o’clock came (my usual time for starting) I started to feel an overwhelming amount of guilt. I had to plug it in. I had to press play. I had to finish what I set out to do. So I did. I pressed play and Cardio X began. I did it barefoot. I liked it that way. I completed the ENTIRE program, granted I altered most of the moves. I’ve noticed that with the forward hamstring stretch I have become increasingly more flexible. My folded arms now can almost rest on the floor. When I began and I would attempt the standing quad stretch I couldn’t even grab my foot. Tonight I hoisted it up and even had my heel touching my butt, my knees aligned and my hips straight ahead. (I’m still using a chair to balance myself, though.)

So. In conclusion, I am NOT giving up. Thanks for the support of the 20 viewers I had last night. I’m thinking I’ll continue with the weight, waist, and morning run stats at the beginning of my posts. Day 8

Weight: 205 :(

This morning I started off the day around 6:30am at the gym. I ran on the elliptical machine for 30 minutes, which was approximately 1.8 miles. I’ve gotten used to the machine and I don’t feel much benefit, so I’ll be switching to the treadmill for a while and then moving onto running on the track. Or, I may stick with the treadmill because watching TV in the morning takes my mind of of running and I don’t get bored. One of the reasons I was even using the elliptical was that in moving back to college, I forgot my Nike+ iPod sensor at my mom’s house. Today I was able to go pick that up, so I can begin tracking my progress once more.

Between workouts today I went to my mom’s house and we called wedding photographers and have set up several appointments for next week. I hope we can sign a contract after meeting a few; that will be one more thing checked off the list. I also went shopping for bridesmaids’ dressing and found the perfect one, I believe. It’s clover green, knee-length, strapless and taffeta. It’s very pretty, and my Maid of Honor approves.

Once I returned to my dorm I did Core Synergistics. I have yet to fully complete this workout, albeit this is only the second time I’ve tried it. I did notice I got further through the video without having to reduce my reps, and I could reach further into the initial stretches than I could last week. I’m finishing the night with a 2-3 page essay that is due tomorrow. Hooray for procrastination.

Week 1 Complete

Hi everyone. I began the p90x program exactly one week ago. So far, I feel amazing. I’ve been following the beach body diet plan to a tee, and have been doing the LeanX program every night at 8pm. I have also been taking pictures to track my progress. I have a weight log and so far I’m happy to report that I’m down to 202.4lbs (starting weight 205). Each morning I wake up with the sun and run for 30 minutes. This has really been valuable because p90x puts such a strain on my body and makes me so sore, running helps loosen me up and prepare me for the day ahead.

I don’t really have anything substantial to say in this post, just wanted to share the news. I will be posting each night with my pictures, details about my daily diet and workout, and then just ramblings.

I will not give up. As many of you know, I’m getting married on April 10, 2010. That means I have a wedding dress to fit in to. I bought this dress last year when I was a size 12 almost, and now that I’m back to a 16/18, I have a LOT of work to do. So in order to stay motivated, I decided to incorporate my p90x into my regular blog. So feel free to comment, motivate, encourage, and critisize; but know that I’m trying my hardest and I am seeing progess. I’m putting it all out on the line, especially by posting my progress photos, but I know that no matter the mean/rude/inappropriate comments about me now, in 90 days I’ll look and feel much better than I ever have before. Thanks.
